The Department of Student Community Ethics (DSCE) works with the University community to educate students about their rights and responsibilities as stated in the Western Carolina Creed, the Student Handbook and the Code of Student Conduct. DSCE works to help students and organizations who violate University living and learning expectations become more responsible members of the Western Carolina University Community. DSCE works with faculty and staff to ensure that the university’s expectations of scholarship and integrity are upheld.
To Report an Academic Integrity Violation
An Academic Integrity Violation report can be completed if a student has allegedly cheated, plagiarized, fabricated work, or facilitated another student's academic dishonesty. If the student does not have a prior AI offense, the professor has the opportunity to resolve the issue with the student using the Academic Integrity Violation Form. Please refer to the Academic Integrity Reporting and Resolution Process in order to report the Academic Integrity issue appropriately.

A Community Ethics complaint can be placed against a student who has violated a university policy found in the WCU Code of Student Conduct. Each violation is specifically outlined with specific details of what constitutes a violation.
