Saturday April 18th, 2015
Come out Saturday April 18th and help clean up one of Jackson County’s largest natural resources! Each year the Tuck River Cleanup is the Nation's LARGEST single day river cleanup. 600-1000 volunteers converge to clean 27 miles of river and annually remove 3-5 tons of garbage!
Register at the UC lawn by the clock tower at WCU. The first 600 participants receive a free t-shirt. Base Camp Cullowhee will provide participants with a paddle, personal flotation device, trash bags, raft, and transportation to/from the river. All you have to do is show up - float the river - pick up trash!
After a fun afternoon of doing a good deed we will transport you back to the UC lawn in Cullowhee to enjoy a FREE cookout and thank-you festival for all participants, including live music and inflatable yard toys for kids of all ages. We will also have a drawing for door prizes donated by local businesses.
11am-1pm - Registration on the UC lawn near the clock tower.
11am-1pm - Transportation provided to the river
3-5pm - Transportation provided from the river back to the UC lawn
5pm - Free cookout dinner, live music, inflatable yard toys, prize drawing
What to Bring: *The minimum weight to raft the Tuckasegee is 40 lbs.
*There is an alternative walker’s route for those not meeting the requirements or anyone who would prefer to not be on the river.
Base Camp Cullowhee does not pre-register volunteers for the Tuckasegee River Clean Up.
