Orientation Programs at Western Carolina University are designed to ease the transition to collegiate life for both students and their families. Once your student is accepted, please have them follow the directions provided through the Catamount Gateway so that they do not miss a crucial step – these include: final transcripts, health and immunization records, tuition and housing deposits (due no later than May 1), housing contracts, meal plans, CatWalk and Orientation Registration. CatWalk is our online pre-registration program which will be utilized by our professional advisors in preparing a class schedule in conjunction with your student. During the student’s mandatory Orientation, families will have ample opportunity to learn about Western Carolina University services, activities, policies and the people who will be assisting your student through graduation. Orientation is the prime time for all new students to be advised on class schedules, learn about our academic expectations and policies and walk away with a final class schedule. There are a variety of sessions for students and parents, separately and together. By the end of Orientation, all of your questions and concerns should be eliminated as well as most student account business completed.
