Friends of the Arts Scholarships

The College of Fine and Performing Arts' Friends of the Arts membership society provides funding for student scholarships throughout the college, including the School of Art and Design. The scholarships application opens in October each year and closes on February 1. The scholarships awarded are for the following academic year. 

Annual Endowed Scholarships

4 awards of $500 each, chosen by competition each Fall

Rising Senior Award
1 Annual Award of $500 (application in Fall)

Director's Choice Award
1 Annual Award of $500 (chosen in Spring)

First Year Student Award
$500 - $1000 dollars for entering first year students
Applications taken at the end of each Spring Semester
Application materials for First Year Student Award include:
• Cover letter describing your interest in art
• Resume
• 8-10 images (jpeg) of art and/or design work, saved on USB drive

NOTE: First year scholarship applications may be used for pre-admission into BFA program.

2 annual awards of $250 each for fine art students to purchase art supplies

Roberta Buckner Award (for Interior Design student)
Annual award (application in Spring)

Wilma Cosper Scholarship (for Interior Design Student

Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts Scholarship
Cost of attendance of 1 week summer workshop (chosen in Spring)

Penland School of Crafts Scholarship
Cost of attendance of 1-week summer workshop (chosen in Spring)
