"Spearfinger," based on a traditional Cherokee story, is written entirely in the Cherokee language and with no English translation. It is the latest in a series of books produced by WCU’s Cherokee language program, with funds from the Cherokee Preservation Foundation, and intended to revitalize the Cherokee language. The donation of the book to Hunter Library coincided also with the creation of a series of display cases highlighting Cherokee culture.
