Honoring & Memorial Gifts

 

An honoring or memorial gift is a meaningful way to convey sympathy to the bereaved, memorialize a loved one, commemorate a special occasion or honor someone with your gift to Western Carolina University.

Honoring and memorial gifts of any size can be designated to Western Carolina’s Loyalty Fund, which supports university merit-based scholarships. Donors also may direct their gifts to any fund of their choice, including restricted and existing endowment funds. When you make a tribute gift, the Office of Development notifies the honoree or the family of your gift (though not the amount). You can make a tribute gift today by clicking here and completing the tribute form (PDF).

Named endowed funds can be established in honor or in memory of a family member, classmate, faculty member or friend. There also are opportunities to name spaces on campus.

For memorial gifts, families can state a request in the obituary that donations be sent to Western Carolina University using language such as this: In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Western Carolina University Foundation. Checks should be mailed to the:
