Horace Kephart: Revealing an Enigma
When All God's Children Get Together
M – F, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Feb. 27 - June 1, 2017
Celebrating the cultural traditions of the region’s African-American community
WCU’s Mountain Heritage Center has moved across campus! The Center’s exhibit galleries in the HFR Building closed on April 13, 2015. The MHC has now moved its offices and exhibits to Hunter Library, where we are continuing to serve WCU and the community.
Our offices, located on the 2nd floor of Hunter Library, are open M-F, 8 am – 5 pm. Our 1,500 sq. ft. exhibit gallery on the ground floor of Hunter Library is open and hosting "Horace Kephart: Revealing an Enigma." We are about to open a new exhibit entitled "When All God's Get Together" which is a celebration of the lives and music of African-Americans in far western North Carolina.
Our collections remain in the HFR Building, where our artifact preservation and research work continues. Ultimately, the MHC will be the centerpiece of a new WCU Visitors Center. Our main phone number is still the same (828-227-7129) and you can find the latest information about upcoming programs and exhibits, as well as complete contact information here and on Facebook.
