I. POLICY STATEMENT

Western Carolina University (“WCU”) policy requires compliance with applicable provisions of the General Statutes of North Carolina regarding the retention and disposition of public records, as well as the applicable policies of the University of North Carolina and the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, Office of Archives and History, Division of Historical Resources, Archives and Records Section.

II. SCOPE AND APPLICABILITY

The records of WCU are generally public records under State law and may be disposed of only in accordance with the University of North Carolina General Records Retention and Disposition Schedule.

It is the responsibility of all division, college, and department managers to determine the type of records maintained in the ordinary course of business that are subject to the University of North Carolina General Records Retention and Disposition Schedule, as may be amended from time to time, and to comply with the requirements of the schedule.
