An enthusiast for the arts, John R. Lupoli, Jr. has been a contributor to the Highlands community since he relocated from Miami in 1975. Beginning with summer vacations to Highlands as a child, John's adoration and appreciation for the community's beauty and charm have grown exponentially with each passing year. Although John has been building in surrounding areas for more than 35 years, Lupoli Construction was officially established in Highlands in 1982. From humble beginnings as a painter, John's portfolio now includes more than 200 custom homes.
In the same way a Lupoli home naturally integrates materials from the region into a home in harmony with the environment, so has John integrated his life into the fabric of his community. He is committed to maintaining strong relationships with his family, clients, and community members, whether it's through his involvement with his family's church, or through his service on various boards. He lives in Highlands with his wife Anita, an artist, and three of his children; Isabella, Juliette, and John III.
Lupoli Construction has added tremendously to Highlands' residential and commercial landscape with unique buildings of renowned distinction and quality, truly personifying rustic elegance. In 2012, Lupoli invested in our downtown with the addition of the new Town Square. The center is home to eight local businesses, new public restrooms, and a center courtyard, which hosts musicians and events during the summer months. The project was granted an award of merit for design by the Governor and the NC Small Town Main Street Program. The Lupoli team's work also has received recognition in national publications such as Southern Accents, and VERANDAMagazine as well as numerous regional magazines such as Second Home by Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, Views Magazine, and Builder/Architect.
