Fees & Payment

Your registration for orientation is not complete until we receive payment. We accept cancellations up to 10 working days before a scheduled orientation date.

First-Year Fees:
$125 for First-Year Students
$70/per person for family members/guests staying off-campus
$100/per person for family members/guests staying on campus
$25 Early Arrival Fee per person (limited to one day prior to Orientation in June/July only)

To attend the First-Year Program, parents and other guests must register and pay.

Transfer Fees:
$65 for Transfer Students
$25 for each parent or guest 
$25 Early Arrival Fee per person (limited to one day prior to Orientation in June/July only) 

Academic Success Program and Summer Learning Communities Fees:
$145 for Students
$70/per person for family members/guests staying off-campus
$100/per person for family members/guests staying on campus

What the Fees Cover

First-Year Student Fees cover lunch and supper on day 1 and breakfast and lunch on day 2.  The fee also covers two snacks and overnight accommodations.  A portion of the fees goes to printing costs, building usage fees and to pay the student staff.  Orientation fees also support Week of Welcome activities in August and January. 

First-Year Guest Fees cover the same items as the First-Year Student fees but do not go toward Week of Welcome activities. 

Transfer Student Fees cover breakfast and lunch.  The fees also go toward printing costs, building usage fees and to pay the student staff.

Transfer Guest Fees cover breakfast and lunch.  The fees also go toward printing costs, building usage fees and to pay the student staff.

Academic Success Program and Summer Learning Community Student Orientation Fees cover lunch and supper on day 1 and breakfast, lunch and supper on day 2.  A portion of the fees goes to printing costs, building usage fees and to pay the student staff.  For each ASP/SLC student that attends Orientation, Orientation Programs gives a percentage of their fee to ASP/SLC to support their summer activities. 

Academic Success Program and Summer Learning Community Guest Fees cover the same items as the First-Year Guest Fees. 

The Orientation Program at Western Carolina University is not supported by state funds.  Therefore, the entire program must be produced from fees.  If you have questions or concerns about the Orientation Fees, please contact the Orientation Office.  Thank you.
