WCU's Office of Public Relations and Communications routinely sends news releases about student activities and honors to the hometown/local newspapers of the students involved. Students participating in the Graduate Research Symposium who wish to take advantage of that service should visit the website http://studentawards.wcu.edu to complete an online form and submit it via email to the Public Relations and Communications Office.
The Graduate Research Symposium and the Graduate Research Competition are two separate but complementary activities. The Symposium is a forum for graduate students to present the results of their graduate research, or in an area of academic interest to the student, to the Western community. The Research Competition is an opportunity for students to submit research (ie: written paper, artistic presentation, etc.) for blind review and ranking by Western faculty.
Students may enter either or both the Symposium and Research Competition. A presentation
entered in the Competition must also be presented at the Symposium.
