E-Publishing / E-Journals Summer Boot Camp

When: June 6-7, 2013

Where: Camp Building

After completing this two-day boot camp, participants will have all of the tools, perspectives, and best practices for starting their own eJournals (or other related ePublications). The workshop is designed to be hands-on and interactive, getting you (and your publication team) ready to springboard your idea into reality.

WCU, through the Hunter Library, has recently entered into a collaborative partnership with other schools in the UNC system to be able to offer a platform for participating campuses to develop, manage, and publish electronic journals. You have been identified as someone who may be interested in this exciting new opportunity.

On June 6-7, the Coulter Faculty Commons, the Hunter Library, and the Office of Creative Services will be hosting a two-day "boot camp" for those faculty and staff who may be interested in starting an electronic scholarly journal or moving an existing one. The sessions will provide you and/or your editorial team all of the tools that you will need to be able to develop, launch, manage, and publish a professional scholarly journal. The sessions will cover marketing, design, management, editorial functions, legal aspects, and strategies for readership.

Even if you're not sure whether you wish to start a journal at this time, we hope you will consider joining us to find out about the possibilities and what you would need to do to plan a journal for the future. Attendance at all the sessions is recommended for those preparing to start a journal in the near future. Others are welcome to attend only those sessions that are of particular interest (please indicate this on the registration form below).
