Western Carolina University is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
The National Christian Fellowship will host this conference focusing on the Christian
nurse in nursing practice. With a morning session geared toward all nurses, the afternoon
will have a special tract for nursing students.
The first session “Christian Nurses: Hiding Under the Basket or Being Bold for Christ” will focus on the ways Christian nurses can practice their faith in a sectarian environment. This session is presented by Cheryl Clark. Cheryl has twenty-five years’ experience teaching spiritual care and participated in the provision of spiritual care in a variety of health-care settings. The participants will be able to describe the role of the Christian Nurse in current practice.
The second session will be lead by Anne Marie Jones. Ms. Jones will present “Spiritual Perspectives in Nursing Assessment and Care.” With 20 years of experience integrating spiritual care into nursing practice, Ms. Jones will define the components or a spiritual assessment using case studies.
The next two sessions will discuss incorporating spiritual interventions into nursing practice. Dr. Lydia Elliot and Dr. Judy Neubrander will present spiritual interventions and reflect on outcomes of those interventions including self-care. Amy Putnam and Elizabeth Sexton will lead breakout sessions for student nurses. Those attending the student nurse sessions will be be eligible for NCNA credit.
The conference pre-registration fee is $45.00 if registered by April 1, 2013. The fee is $75.00 after April 1. Lunch will be on your own.
This event has 4.5 continuing nursing professional development units. To earn nursing professional development units, the attendee must attend the entire event and complete the evaluation.
