Projects with Legos

August 10 - 14 - Rising 3rd through 5th graders

The camp is designed to improve the special-visual abilities of your camper and incorporate some of the STEM curriculum items. The camp will also help your camper connect science and math to real world problems in a fun environment. Students will be using Lego™ kits provided by the University. Space is limited, so register early.

Details

  • The camp meets from 9 am to 4 pm Monday-Thursday.  On Friday, the camp will meet from 9-2. Campers will eat lunch daily in Courtyard dining on campus and will be accompanied by the teacher and an assistant at all times.
  • On Friday, students will showcase some of their work at 1 pm for parents, grandparents and any special quest of the student.. Anyone wishing to come or lunch can purchase a meal ticket in the dining hall and eat with the campers on Friday.
  • Early registration by July 13 is $119.00. After July 13 registration is $159.00.

Robotics with Legos

Western Carolina University will offer three sessions of this hands-on camp using Lego building sets and Lego robotics.

 

Session 1: June 22 - June 26 - Rising 6th and 7th graders

Students will explore the technology behind robotic technology while building and programming with LEGO building sets. They will be challenged with LEGO Mindstorm NST robotic programming and will build their own robotic creations and have the opportunity to challenge their knowledge with mini competitions and challenges during the week.

  • The camp meets from 9 am to 4 pm Monday-Thursday.  On Friday, the camp will meet from 9-2. Campers will eat lunch daily in Courtyard dining on campus and will be accompanied by the teacher and an assistant at all times.

The camp is designed for the student who has an interest in learning more about the science and technology of robotics. Campers will also have an opportunity to visit the Kimmel School of Engineering and see the projects and technology there.

  • The camp meets from 9 am to 4 pm Monday-Thursday.  On Friday, the camp will meet from 9-2. Campers will eat lunch daily in Courtyard dining on campus and will be accompanied by the teacher and an assistant at all times.

Robotics Engineering for Teens

July 27- 31 - Rising 8th, 9th and 10th graders

Is your teen a future engineer? Does your teen want to know how things work? Then this summer camp is for him or her. Participants will learn the basics of engineering design and problem solving processes.

  • The camp meets from 9 am to 4 pm Monday-Thursday.  On Friday, the camp will meet from 9-2. Campers will eat lunch daily in Courtyard dining on campus and will be accompanied by the teacher and an assistant at all times.
