Questions and Answers for New Students
Update on the new priority registration system:
The University is transitioning to a new registration system this fall. HONORS COLLEGE STUDENTS HAVE PRIORITY REGISTRATION IN THE NEW SYSTEM. The new system is set up with “Time-Ticket Banding.” In the new system, registration is scheduled in bands. Each band represents a group of students who have a similar calculated number of hours to degree completion. The low number bands (those registering earlier) include students who are very close to graduation, while the higher number bands include students who are not as close to graduation. The Registrar will calculate every student’s minimum hours needed for degree completion to determine what band you are in. In the new system, Honors Students will get priority access to registration by being scheduled (time-ticketed) to register in a band earlier than their calculated band.
This new registration system was under development at the end of last year. YOUR HONORS BOARD OF DIRECTORS WAS INVOLVED IN PETITIONING THE ADMINISTRATION TO SECURE PRIORITY REGISTRATION FOR YOU IN THIS NEW SYSTEM. Several University administrators came to an Honors Board meeting earlier this semester to go over the new system and to answer student questions. Honors Students were well represented at that meeting.
The Registrar will be posting additional information for students to the Registrar’s website later this week, which will include registration hours and band information. Once your specific Time-Ticket is generated, you will receive that information from the Registrar.
