The Department of Modern Foreign Languages encourages you to fully engage in your study of a second language, either through active participation in student projects and department- and university-sponsored events such as WCU’s annual Foreign Language Contest for High School Students or Hispanic Heritage Month, or by taking advantage of WCU’s excellent Study Abroad opportunities or attending one of our film festivals.

For each language offered – Cherokee, French, German, Japanese and Spanish – students designed t-shirts as part of a promotion in connection with the upcoming International Education Week, November 18-22. Part of the goal of the event is to promote international understanding and build support for international education exchange by encouraging development of programs that prepare Americans to live and work in a global environment.
