“The social work department is small enough that you can have a close, personal relationship with the faculty, which is comforting as a student.”
Social Work: A Profession of Value
WCU’s Department of Social Work offers undergraduate (BSW) and graduate degrees (MSW) that present students with a variety of career options, from working in child welfare, mental health and substance abuse settings to work in private practice, non-profit and social service administration.
The challenging curriculum offers classes covering a wide range of topics and hands-on experience through participation in the field practicum internship, the most indispensable component of social work education. This internship experience gives a student the opportunity to gain practical experience in preparation for professional Social Work practice.
At WCU, you’ll enjoy a personalized learning environment in a small, intimate setting. Our dedicated faculty will work with you in the classroom and the field to help you gain the knowledge and experience you need to succeed during your time here at Western and throughout your professional career.
