Application Deadlines

Semester for Admission         Application Due
Fall                                           Early Admission  Deadline March 15th    
Final Admission Deadline April 19th

Spring                                      October 15th

Summer                                    April 19th 

Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on the concentration enrollment maximums.

Admission Criteria 

1. Cumulative grade point average of "B" or higher in all upper-level undergraduate coursework.

2. Satisfactory scores on the verbal, quantitative and analytical portions of the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
        Minimum scores are:
         Test Taken                  Verbal     Quantitative     Analytical Writing
         Before Aug. 2011         400         400                     3.5
         After Aug. 2011            146         140                     3.5

3. Three letters of recommendation from instructors or employers who are able to judge aptitude for graduate study.

4. A ‘Statement of Goals & Experiences’ essay (Word)

Students wishing to apply for admission to the Dietetic Internship must be admitted to the MHS program and complete a separate Dietetic Internship application for selective admission. For further information, contact the Dietetic Internship Program.

Cost & Financial Aid

MHS students are eligible for graduate student scholarships, educational loans, and financial aid.  Information on funding sources for graduate students is available here.     

Mission Health Scholarship Awards
The College of Health and Human Sciences at Western Carolina University is pleased to announce that a scholarship fund has been established for students support through the generous gift of Mission Health System of Asheville, North Carolina.  The purpose of this fund is to increase the number of qualified health and allied health care providers in and beyond the western North Carolina region.  The fund will support scholarships for students demonstrating exceptional academic merit/promise and/or financial need.  Though scholarships will be open to all qualified students, the college is especially interested in supporting applicants from western North Carolina who also reflect the diverse communities we serve.
