Dr. Terri Armfield is currently a member of the School of Music faculty at Western Carolina University where she teaches applied oboe, music theory and aural skills. Before coming to WCU, she taught at the University of Kentucky, Asbury College, and in public schools in Kentucky and Iowa.
An active performer, Dr. Armfield is currently a member of the Nashville Double Reed Ensemble where she performs as principal/first oboist and was recently featured as a solo artist with that group. She has performed with many orchestras in Western North Carolina including the Asheville Symphony, the Hendersonville Symphony, and the Brevard Philharmonic Orchestra where she is currently a member. She enjoys performing in area ensembles and has most recently accepted an invitation to join the newly formed woodwind quintet,’ Apollo Winds’, whose members are professional musicians from North and South Carolina.
Dr. Armfield has authored articles in the international journals, The Instrumentalist and The Double Reed. She is frequently sought after as a guest clinician and adjudicator in the southeastern
United States and has served as a reviewer on the National Editorial Board for the
National Conferences on Undergraduate Research (NCUR).
