After graduation, she began training classically while pursuing an acting career. She attended the North Carolina School of the Arts and the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute where she completed B.M. and M. M. degrees in vocal performance and opera. Ms. Hedberg has served on the faculties of Children’s Theatre Charlotte, North Carolina School of the Arts Community Music School and Summer Session, the Matthews Playhouse, and Mars Hill College, and now serves as Company Manager of the Asheville Lyric Opera.
Ms. Hedberg has performed a variety of roles for the Asheville Lyric Opera, including Norina in Don Pasquale, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Giannetta in L’Elisir d’Amore, Flora in La Traviata, and the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor. Ms. Hedberg also stage-directed Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel for ALO’s Education Opera program, and performed as soloist on ALO’s Christmas Concert. In January 2011, she will stage direct ALO’s production of Brundibár at the Diana Wortham Theatre.
