The College of Business conducts a speaker series called "Insights and Reflections". This series covers four presentations per academic year, evenly spaced every six weeks during each semester. Speakers will generally cover topics such as secrets to success, formation of critical thought, methods of achievement, and similar processes which will advance students' thinking as they progress through their college experience.
On Monday, October 1, 2012, the College of Business hosted John F. A. V. "Jack" Cecil, President of Biltmore Farms. Cecil's presentation, "Leadership and Vision," was the first of the "Insights and Reflections" presentations planned for the academic year.
Mr. Cecil is not only an incredibly accomplished businessman, but someone who has devoted considerable leadership to the furtherance of community and educational development in Western North Carolina. He has been Vice Chairman of the UNC Board of Governors, participated on the WCU Millennial Campus Committee, is past Chair of Mission Hospitals, serves as Secretary to the Board of the NC Biotechnology Center, and was recently asked to join the UNC Board of Governors’ Advisory Committee on Strategic Directions. Very importantly, he championed WCU’s efforts to establish our Graduate Program’s facility in Biltmore Park.
Mr. Cecil received his M.I.M. from The Garvin School of International Management (Thunderbird) and his B.A. from UNC-Chapel Hill.
The October 1 event was held at 4:00 pm in the Theater located on the third floor
of the University Center, Western Carolina University.
