In 2010, the UP Program extended its outreach across North Carolina to develop UP expansion sites at various N.C. universities and community colleges. The UP Program provides technical and limited funding assistance through mini-grant opportunities to:
- Appalachian State University, Scholars with Diverse Abilities Boone, NC
- Western Piedmont Community College, Accessible College Experience (ACE), Morganton, NC (ACE video!)
- College of The Albemarle, Pathways to an Accessible College Experience (PACE), Elizabeth City, NC (PACE in the news!)
If you are interested in applying to become a UP expansion site it is important to begin planning and networking within your college campus first. As part of our Transition Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities (TPSID) funding, we have committed to provide technical assistance to other community colleges and universities as a model demonstration program in North Carolina. Colleges wishing to expand fully inclusive opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities in postsecondary education should contact the UP Program.
