While in her 5th semester in our MSHR program, Jennifer Gappens was offered an HR Advisor role with a major U.S. leader in the global sports media business. "I am now working with seasoned HR professionals and gaining tremendous insight on strategic HR initiatives. I am very grateful for this internship with a great company!”, Gappens says.
She plans on graduating with her MSHR degree in December 2015.
“Choosing the Western Carolina MSHR program was one of the smartest decisions I have made. TheMSHR program is run by friendly, supportive, and accessible professors who challenged and inspired me. They gave me the theoretical and practical skills necessary to become competitive in the field of Human Resources and the confidence to conquer the PHR certification. A unique benefit of the distance-learning platform is that it attracts working professionals. Having the opportunity to network and have daily interaction with other HR professionals while working toward your degree is invaluable. Finally, the consulting projects really bring the coursework to life. Not only are you able to gain valuable research and writing experience, but you also have the opportunity to use your education and expertise to benefit local organizations.”
Angela Wagner, PHR, is currently the Human Resources Director at AllCare Clinical Associates in Asheville, NC. She graduated the MSHR program in December 2012.
"The MSHR program has provided me with the tools and knowledge needed to advance my credibility in my own company and understand technically and strategically the field of human resources.

"The knowledge and real-world business insight I gained through the MSHR program allowed me to join a fantastic organization at Dollar General. With hard work, it's given me the opportunity to be promoted to lead HR in our new Bethel, PA Distribution Center in just over one year. I could not have achieved this without my MSHR."
Brad Wallace, 2011 graduate
"Western Carolina's MSHR program is a hidden gem that everyone whose passionate about Human Resources should know about. I've learned and experienced a vast array from the graduate program through lectures, case studies, real life hands on experiences, and through various group projects. I personally believe that the icing on the cake is that they've been recognized for their curriculum by SHRM. "
Deidre Harper, 2012 graduate
