The philosophy of SSS tutoring services is to promote one-on-one sessions that meet on a regular basis throughout the semester. SSS peer tutors must enroll in USI 202, Intro to Peer Tutoring Course that meets for 15 weeks. Enrollment in this course leads to National Tutor Certification. Peer tutors are paid employees that work with a diverse student population including students with disabilities, a variety of learning styles, different cultures, ethnic groups and socioeconomic backgrounds. Students interested in becoming peer tutors for SSS are to contact Ms. Jacqueline Owens, Assistant Director for Student Support Services at 828-227-3895 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
