eBriefcase

Service Description

This tool provides a place for students to collect and build “artifacts” from all aspects of their educational experience that demonstrate the ability to integrate knowledge and skills from their academic and co-curricular experiences. Artifacts will consist of electronic files of original work – papers, graphics, photographs, videos, or music – plus a description of how the work represents one or more of the QEP learning outcomes. The artifacts can then be combined into electronic portfolios that can be shared with advisors, faculty, and even graduate school recruiters and potential employers as a representation of the wholeness of the educational experience at WCU.

Requirements/Limitations

Currently eBriefcase access is limited to a small student focus group and all faculty and staff.  Only students in the eBriefcase focus group can currently access the eBriefcase system.  All faculty and staff have access to the system. eBriefcase users must have an active WCU account and access to the internet.

Eligibility

All faculty and staff have access to eBriefcase.  Student access is currently limited based upon specific course enrollment and program participation.  The eBriefcase Implementation Team (EBIT) is responsible for granting access to specific courses and programs.  Eventually all students will have access to eBriefcase.

IT's Role

The tool itself is hosted off-campus and maintained by Blackboard. The Coulter Faculty Commons and the Technology Commons will assist faculty and students utilizing the eBriefcase system.
