UPDATE 1/20/09: After one and one-half years of print audits, equipment inventories, cost tracking, campus visits, product research, vendor presentations, and many meetings, the Chancellor’s committee for the evaluation and implementation of a cost effective campus-wide networked copy/print system is in the contract signing phase of this competitively-bid service, with IKON Office Solutions (a Ricoh Company).
From the very beginning, our campus committee has maintained its belief that service response, system reliability, flexibility, accessibility, functionality, and ongoing assessment of system and vendor performance were (and will remain) of utmost importance. As well, the enormous cost savings in equipment, maintenance, consumables, supplies, and cost recovery will greatly benefit university and departmental budgets.
Beginning Tuesday (1/20/09), Tom Frazier (WCU Print Shop) and Mark Kallner (IKON senior solutions analyst) will be making rounds to visit academic departments. Tom and Mark will be verifying and updating our earlier conducted departmental inventories of major copiers and printers. They will be available to answer any questions about the system, while they listen and note additional departmental information to help ensure that your print/copy coverage and service needs can be effectively addressed.
As this initiative moves nearer to implementation, more communications to campus will be forthcoming. Soon, campus forums will be announced and held to provide campus an opportunity to hear more about the system, ask questions, touch, and witness the system’s functionality in live action.
If you have specific questions about this campus-wide initiative, please contact Mike Stewart and/or Tom Frazier for more information.
