A team of staff writers, editors, photographers and a videographer within the Office of Communications and Public Relations work together to communicate university messages and information to the public. Services provided include:
News Services/Media Relations
The News Services/Media Relations team acts as the liaison between the university and the news media, including local, regional and nationwide outlets in print, broadcast and electronic formats. Members of the media interested in stories about WCU and its students, faculty, staff and programs are encouraged to visit WCU's For the Media website. Faculty and staff members wishing to publicize university events, awards and honors, research activities, publications and student achievements through the news media, university website and campus publications are asked to contact the news services office.
WCU campus photographers produce visual images of Western Carolina’s people and places to promote the university through its website, publications, promotional campaigns and various media outlets. Visit the photographic services website to learn more about how to request a photo.
A campus videographer produces high-profile university videos and serves as a resource to campus community members planning to create university videos for external audiences. The videographer is available to discuss video projects and planning, and can assist with selected video projects requested by members of the campus community.
